Ideas have the ability to improve the way people learn and can enable learning opportunities for the masses. Whether it’s supporting equal access to quality education regardless of gender, race or affluence, or developing new resources and platforms inside and outside of the classroom, supporting, improving and promoting quality education benefits us all.
At the D&AD Impact Awards, we celebrate ideas, projects, or products that encourage the creation of better, safer and more accessible learning environments. During the 2016 awards, those winning campaigns took on many forms.
Winner of the Graphite Pencil award, the Lifesaver Backpack sought to change the way kids in poor jungle communities in Columbia get to school. Every day, thousands of kids travel by boat along rivers to get to school, but the rivers are often unpredictable and pose dangerous threats, like flash floods. Casa Luker’s fruit snack brand, Luki, teamed up with J. Walter Thompson to eliminate those risks by creating the Lifesaver Backpacks; backpacks made with reflective, lightweight materials with a top handle for water rescue, a waterproof whistle and CPR instructions. The initiative reached children in four different jungle communities, and made traveling to school safer than ever.
D&AD Impact seeks to identify and celebrate great, transformative ideas that contribute towards a better, fairer and more sustainable future for all. If you think you have a campaign that makes a real and positive difference to the world then why not enter it into D&AD Impact.
